If you're thinking about epoxy flooring for your Sydney garage, workshop, or commercial space, the first question is always the same: how much is this going to cost me?
The short answer: $45 to $120 per square metre, depending on the type of epoxy finish you choose. But the real question is which type is right for your space — and your budget.
I'm Hans from Wizcrete Concrete. We've installed epoxy floors across Sydney — from family garages in Gordon to commercial workshops in Gladesville. Here's what you'll actually pay in 2026.

💰 For a typical 2-car Sydney garage (~36m²): Solid epoxy ~$1,600–$2,300. Epoxy flake ~$2,000–$3,100. Metallic epoxy ~$2,700–$4,300.
What Are the Different Types of Epoxy Flooring?
1. Solid Epoxy ($45–$65/m²)
Solid colour epoxy — typically grey, beige, or charcoal. It's the most affordable option and gives you a clean, durable, easy-to-clean surface. Perfect if you just want your garage floor to stop being dusty and oily.
2. Epoxy Flake ($55–$85/m²)
This is the most popular choice for Sydney homeowners. Coloured vinyl flakes are broadcast into the wet epoxy, creating a speckled finish that hides dirt and tyre marks brilliantly. It's also more slip-resistant than solid epoxy.

Transformed with epoxy flake — clean, bright, durable
3. Metallic Epoxy ($75–$120/m²)
The showstopper. Metallic pigments create a shimmering, 3D effect that looks like molten metal or flowing water. It's expensive, but the result is genuinely stunning. Popular in luxury home garages, showrooms, and retail spaces.
4. Anti-Static Epoxy ($90–$150/m²)
For commercial and industrial spaces where static discharge is a concern — electronics workshops, labs, server rooms. Most homeowners won't need this, but it's worth knowing it exists.
What Affects the Final Price?
- Surface condition — badly cracked or uneven concrete needs more prep work (grinding, patching), which adds cost
- Moisture testing — if your concrete has moisture issues, a moisture barrier may be needed ($10–$20/m² extra)
- Colour and finish — custom colours or metallic pigments cost more than standard grey
- Size — larger areas often get a lower per-square-metre rate
- Access — if the installer can't get equipment in easily (e.g. downstairs via stairs), it adds labour time
💡 Hans' Tip
If your garage floor is in reasonable condition, go with epoxy flake. It's only $10–$20/m² more than solid epoxy, but it hides dirt and tyre marks way better, and it'll still look great 5 years later.
How Long Does Epoxy Flooring Last?
- Garage floors — 10-15 years with normal use (parking cars, foot traffic, occasional workshop use)
- Commercial/industrial — 8-12 years with heavy use
- Lifespan depends on: quality of installation, thickness of coating, and how well the concrete was prepared
Is Epoxy Flooring Worth It?
For a Sydney garage, absolutely. Here's why:
- Transforms the space — goes from dingy concrete to a bright, clean floor in 2-3 days
- Easy to clean — hose it down, mop it, done
- Increases home value — a finished garage floor is a selling point
- Durable — resists oil stains, tyre marks, chemicals, and abrasion
- Cost per year — at $2,500 for a flake system lasting 12 years, that's about $17/month
Bottom line: Epoxy flooring is one of the best value-for-money upgrades you can make to your Sydney home. It's not cheap, but it's a once-in-a-decade investment that pays for itself in usability and appeal.
