What Is Coloured Concrete?

Coloured concrete is standard concrete with colour pigment added directly into the mix before pouring. Unlike painted or stained surfaces, integral colour goes right through the slab — so it can't peel, chip, or wear away. The colour is permanent.

At Wizcrete, we use premium Shieldcoat colour pigments — the same fade-resistant technology trusted by roofers, concretors, and councils across NSW. Our colours stay vibrant for years with minimal maintenance.

Our Colour Range

We offer four premium colour families. Each can be adjusted for intensity (light or dark variants):

Grey

Charcoal, Slate, Basalt — our most popular choice for modern homes. Works with any architectural style. Clean, sophisticated, timeless.

Brown

Terracotta, Walnut, Bronze — warm, earthy tones that complement sandstone, brick, and traditional homes. Popular in Federation and heritage properties.

Cream

Sandstone, Limestone, Honey — light, bright finishes that reflect heat and stay cool underfoot. Ideal for pool surrounds, patios, and heritage homes.

Dark

Deep Charcoal, Basalt Black — dramatic, premium look for contemporary properties. Creates striking contrast against light landscaping and modern architecture.

Coloured Concrete vs Stamped or Stencil

Not sure which finish to choose?

Coloured Concrete — A solid, consistent colour across a plain or lightly textured surface. Clean, modern, understated. Best value.
Stamped Concrete — Colour + deep texture impressions that mimic stone, slate, or brick. Premium look, higher cost.
Stencil Concrete — Colour applied with stencil patterns for the look of tiles or pavers. Best for resurfacing existing concrete.

Coloured concrete is the most affordable way to add personality to your concrete — just $10–$20/m² more than plain grey.

Coloured Concrete FAQ

Does coloured concrete fade?

Not with Shieldcoat pigments. Our colours are UV-stable and fade-resistant. The colour is integral — it goes through the whole slab — so it won't peel or wear off.

Can I get exactly the colour I want?

We offer grey, brown, cream, and dark. Each can be adjusted for intensity (lighter or darker) to suit your home. We don't offer custom colours, but these four families cover 95% of Sydney homes.

How long does coloured concrete last?

30+ years — the same as any well-installed concrete slab. Re-seal every 3–5 years to protect the colour.

Is coloured concrete more expensive than plain grey?

About $10–$20/m² more for the pigment. Worth it for a driveway or patio that complements your home's colour scheme.

Can I combine coloured concrete with stamping or stencilling?

Absolutely. Coloured concrete is the base for all stamped and stencil finishes. The colour goes into the concrete, then patterns are applied on top.
